Microsoft on Jasper Xbox 360’s

Xbox 360 group product manager, Aaron Greenberg is tired of being asked the same questions in interviews. He is being asked what Microsoft’s product line is for 2009, but the most asked question is “Why is it so hard to find a system with Jasper hardware.”
The new Xbox 360’s with the Jasper chip has a new motherboard to house the new 65nm CPU, which runs cooler and uses less power. As you can imagine those looking to purchase a new Xbox 360 do not want the older model, they just want the new model, and who can blame them.
There is now more Jasper Xbox 360 models out there, but some people are still finding it hard to tell if they are purchasing a Jasper model. The easy way to do this is “12,1A” will be shown on the power information on the back of the console. Microsoft has been asked why they just do not put the model on the box, click the read more link to see what Greenberg had to say

It sucks but Game in the UK won’t let you see the box model before you get it. I’ve found their returns policy on faulty models is good though but I guess that can depend on the store.
If anyone knows if the fan noise is reduced on the new models I’d seriously considering trading in my 360 as it’d be worth it for a quieter machine and a new 3 year warranty.
