The laptop market has certainly increased in a big way over the last 12 months and the take-up of netbooks has also increased for their portability and very cheap price.
So the news that Dell is to stop focusing on cheap laptops and start focusing on luxury laptops and back PC production is a strange one. Dell is the world’s second largest computer maker and what it does affects the computer industry worldwide.
Dell has been struggling in the current economy and recently announced plans to cut 1,900 jobs in Ireland. So it’s strange that they would want to hit the high end market when money is tighter than ever.
The Telegraph explains Dell’s reasons why they want to compete with products like Apple’s popular MacBook Air. WIll you be buying cheap laptops or higher end products in 2009/2010?
