It is no secret that 2009 will to be a tough year for the Detroit Auto Show, and the fact that six major carmakers have pulled out proves just that. Ferrari, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Rolls-Royce and Nissan decided that they would not attend the show this year.
All carmakers are now starting to feel the pinch, and Ferrari needs to save as money as possible, so that they are able to keep their Formula 1 team going. I do not understand why Rolls-Royce did not turn up as their profits are up, maybe they have no new models planned for 2009.
With six car manufactures down this now means that there is more space at the show, this extra space has been used for a one-half mile landscaped test track, there are even trees and a waterfall. With 2009 set to be a very bad year for automakers, will any of them turn up for the 2010 Detroit Auto Show?
