Palm’s latest Smartphone, the Pre, which is to run on the new WEB OS, will not offer support for old apps. It seems that these older applications that run on the Palm Treo and other Smartphones will not play ball with the new Palm Pre.
Palm has said that they will not be emulating the older apps from the old Palm OS, but they have hinted that they will allow third-party emulation. Therefore, it looks as though they will rely on developers to offer new apps for the new Smartphone.
The new Palm Pre is expected to become available in the first half of 2009, and is considered one of the most important handsets from Palm; this is mainly because of the new WEB OS Operating System. Let us hope that the lack of support of old apps will not have an opposite effect on sales.
