Low-key Detroit Auto Show for Chevrolet, Ford and General Motors
By: Peter Chubb | January 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe knew that the 2009 Detroit Auto show was going to be a bit more low-key, and that was evident from the big three U.S. automakers, Chevrolet, Ford and General Motors. When you visited their stands, you could tell that all three have been hit hard by the recession.
The automakers were not using floor risers, as these are expensive features to any motor show. The carmakers did not have any live music being played; it seems that all those costly gimmicks were put to the back of the shelf this year.
All three did have some great vehicles on offer at the North American 2009 Detroit Auto Show, and yes, there was still some loud music being played. This could in fact be a good thing. Now all three big carmakers had to rely on the cars doing the selling, and not the costly gimmicks.
