Ford Motor Co. could ask for $13 billion federal loan
By: Peter Chubb | January 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentA the end of last year Ford Motor Co. did not take the U.S. Government up on their offer of support, something that Chevrolet and General Motors did. A month has not even past, and now Ford might have to reconsidering federal aid because of low domestic sales.
Ford has said that their domestic sales are 10 percent lower than they had forecast. Ford expects that U.S. light –vehicle sales will hit 12.2 million this year, this is almost 2 million more than the annualized sales rate from the past three months.
IHS Global Insight analyst, John Wolkonowicz has said that Ford will not be able to reach 12.2 million sales this year. Instead, Wolkonowicz expects sales to be from 10 to 10.5 million, sales at that level would then force Ford into a $13 billion loan.
