Vizio have branched out into the Blu-ray player market with the VBR100, the consumer electronics company are best known for their HDTVs. The Vizio VBR100 Blu-ray player is not big on spec but will come with 7.1 analog outputs; the biggest selling point will be its price, $200.
There are not many features but the few that the player has include Profile 2.0 compatible, 7.1 analog audio outputs, Onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio decoding and Optical and coaxial digital audio outputs.
The Vizio VBR100 Blu-ray player was on show at CES 2009, and was one of the only players that did not show of dazzling features. Vizio might be on to a good thing as 2009 will be a tough year for consumer spending, so a barebones Blu-ray player with a low price tag is just what the doctor ordered.
Expect to see the Vizio VBR100 Blu-ray on sale from April.
