LG Blogs were very kind to send us an LG X110 X Series Notebook, Product-Reviews were very lucky to be one of those to receive this gift at Christmas. This was not sent to us to review it was just a gift, but the least we could do was offer our review of the small device.
LG class the X110 as a notebook, but it is very close to being a netbook. The model that we have is glossy white and has a large sticker on the front with a translucent dot-matrix design with the LG logo in the corner.
The notebook is light but feels sturdy, so you know that LG have built a solid product. There are three USB ports in total, two on the left hand side and one on the right. Also on the right is the power port. The right hand side has the multi card slot, VGA port, LAN port, microphone and headphone port.
Opening the lid reveals a white keyboard which is surrounded by a silver case around the keyboard and the screen. The LCD display measures 10-inches and has a 1.3 megapixel camera above. Typing on the keyboard is not as bad as what I thought it would be, but I am finding it tough using the small touchpad.
The LG X110 X Series Notebook is powered by an N270 Intel0 Atom Processor, with a speed of 1.6GHz. The CPU has a 533MHz FSB and 512KB L2 Cache, 1GB of RAM is not much but as the notebook runs on Windows XP, it is not that bad. Do not expect to run large programs, but just browsing the net and simple programs is a breeze.
This small laptop is so funny when trying to listen to music, the speakers are not up to much, but I did not expect anything different. LG have given the notebook the Xtreme Surround System, which means that it benefits from SRS WOW HD and SRS TruSurround XT.
The LG X110 weighs just 1.9kg and benefits from low-level noise. Keeping your LG notebook up-to-date with all the latest software is simple, thanks to LG Intelligent Update. I have had the small notebook on for almost an hour now and the fan is working hard to keep things cool, as the fan is not noisy, this does not prove a problem.
I will not be using the LG X 110 notebook every day, but I will use it when I am away and want to pop a few articles in, as well as approve comments.
