Entertainment Center: Xbox 360 vs Sony PS3 and the clutter

Earlier today we reported that Sony’s PR team are hitting back at the Wii and 360 and this article touched on the Xbox 360 as an entertainment center and how Sony feel it’s a cluttered system thanks to the upgrades needed.

Sony’s words were “The Xbox 360 requires additional money, multiple upgrades, and additional external devices, putting a burden on the wallet, and (it) adds clutter to the entertainment center”.

Can this really be a fair comment, although we prefer the Playstation 3 system for both gaming and as an entertainment center, the Xbox 360 has put a lot more hardware inside rather than buy extras since it’s first model.

The PS3 has huge hard drives that can be upgraded easy thanks to 2.5-inch notebook sizes, has built-in Wi-Fi and Blu-ray functionality but is it really a lot less cluttered than the 360 when used as an entertainment center? Let us know in the comments if you feel the Xbox 360 is a cluttered entertainment center.

The PS3 is, in truth, a system of the future. From the glossy coating to the sleek, smooth games it takes up the slack where the XBOX 360 and the Wii have not ventured. I own both a PS3 and a 360; many people I know have a Wii, so I know what I’m talking about. The PS3 is more of a home entertainment system. Where the Wii is fun and innovative, it lacks the graphics, smooth play, and break-through games that would enable it to be the predominate winner of the current generation of consoles. The 360 has some of the graphics and smooth play that winning requires, it lacks in reliability and some of the classic forever-played games that the Wii and PS3 have. My brother was the one who wanted the 360. However, he plays the PS3 more than the 360 even though he has Call of Duty 5 and Halo 3. He loves Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, but sticks to his ways in calling all PS3 exclusives “disks full of air”.

Overall, I enjoy playing the PS3 the most. The Wii may be fun in the short term, but once cutting-edge graphics take hold of the gaming industry the Wii will soon be outmoded.

Do not also forget the reliability factor. This might be off-topic but definitely plays a part in the over all experience.
I don’t know whats the latest news with the upgraded 65nm Jasper motherboards, but the very least I want from my system is to work, and not become a $$$ piece of decoration on my tabletop.
