Philip Schiller’s keynote at Macworld: Steve Jobs understudy
By: Daniel Chubb | January 7, 2009
Philip Schiller’s keynote at Macworld 2009 may have had low expectations and the announcements did leave a lot to be desired, but this has helped Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) a lot for the long term.
When we hear the word “Apple” it is always side by side with the name “Steve Jobs”, if Apple wants to be healthy in the long-term it needs to be seen as a company that is much more than just Steve Jobs. It’s true that the success of any business is tied to the person that started it and as they expand some times the company loses its vision thanks to staff that do not share it.
Steve Jobs made Apple what it is today but his understudies like Philip Schiller need to show they too have what it takes to move Apple on and up without Jobs. This is the big picture of Apple’s keynote at Macworld 09.
Jobs could leave Apple’s helm this year or in another 5 years but the road ahead for Apple will be to show that other executives can take the limelight and lead the way. This will be a long road but one that we are starting to see take shape. Hit the read link for ZDnet’s take on the keynote.
