Apple iTunes Price Change Details

Phil Schiller had his chance to shine at Apple’s keynote at Macworld yesterday, and I have to say that it was not a good one. There were a few a few new product launches, but it was the price change to iTunes that will have the most effect on people.

The new prices for song downloads are from 69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29, this new pricing structure starts from April. Apple have made this change because of constant pressure from the music industry, they believe that the more that someone wants something, the more they will end up paying for it.

If you are looking to download the hottest tracks from artists such as Beyonce, then you will pay the top price, $1.29. This does make sense to those who only like to download old songs, as they will pay the cheaper price. Another change for iTunes, is that they can now sell music downloads directly to the iPhone with 3G.

When / What songs are 69 cents? I’m looking at the iTunes Store now, and the cheapest price I see is still 99 cents. Even the older music, like the Rolling Stones and Steppenwolf. I’m looking forward to this change, especially due to my taste for the Classics, but have yet to see it…

Well Apple has brought down its prices but its not only a question of a company but a matter to look upon as why Apple has slashed its prices. I have my views on http://controversial-affairs.blogspot.com/2009/01/price-or-prize.html

I think this is ridiculous! The only reason i use iTunes is because I don\’t want to take the risk of being fined from downloading music for free. Plus, I never want a full album, just songs here and there. I think it\’s total bull to say that if people really want something that they\’ll pay more for that. You hike up the prices, then I\’m going to get my music elsewhere. Plus, half of the music I want, you guys don\’t even have on iTunes. Get ready to lose PLENTY of customers.

This is a horrible idea! If they think I’m going to pay $1.29 then they are retarded!! I hate getting my songs from Limewire and places like that, but now that’s pretty much the only choice. Good-Bye iTunes Hello Limewire……..

Price change sucks. All the songs I buy, even old ones are 1.29. I never stole music from the Internet, now I see why people do it with the price increase I am considering it.
