Hackers gain control of Barack Obama, Britney Spears Twitter accounts
By: Peter Chubb | January 6, 2009 | Leave a CommentHackers have been working hard again, and have this time hijacked the Twitter accounts of more than 30 celebrities, which include Britney Spears and President-Elect Barack Obama. This is a serious issue that Twitter needs to rectify and make sure that it does not happen again.
Once the accounts had been hijacked they were used to send malicious messages, many of them were very offensive. One of the messages was sent from Rick Sanchez’s account, the message read “I am high on crack right now might not be coming to work today.”
Twitter has said that the accounts that were hijacked were done so by using the company’s support tools. Twitter said that this is a very serious breach of security, and proceeded to take the support tools offline. The company will put the support tools back online once it is safe and secure.
