MSI has confirmed that both the Wind U115 and U120 netbooks will be on show at CES 2009. The U115 is the first netbook with hybrid storage, giving you a mix of a standard hard drive and an SSD (Solid State Dive), both of which will run side by side.
The new MSI Wind U115 will be more energy efficient, with a battery time of around 12 hours, which comes with the option of a 6-cell battery. MSI has said that it is not the addition of a hybrid storage system that makes the new netbook achieve a better battery performance.
The MSI Wind U115 will have two storage choices, 8 GB/ 120 GB and 16 GB / 160 GB. The netbook will use the Intel’s Atom Z530 CPU which will run at 1.6 GHz, with 512 KB of L2 cache and a FSB of 533MHz. The U115 should have a price of around $500 for the base model.
