Gamers to abandon Nintendo Wii for Xbox 360, Sony PS3 in 2009

When the Nintendo Wii was first launched back in November 2006, gamers went mad trying to get their hands on the latest games console from the Japanese company. Nintendo did not want to go down the same route as the Xbox 360; they wanted a console that the whole family could get involved with.

Many thought that when the Sony PS3 was launched it would affect the sales of the Wii, but that was not the case. Serious gamers even wanted to have a go with the Wii, and when Wii Fit was launched, the games console left its rivals behind.

SlpapStic.com believes that 2009 will not be a good year for the Nintendo Wii, and many users will abandon that console and embrace the Xbox 360 or the Sony PS3. The writer of the article said that 2008 was not a great year for the Wii, as he believes that the Wii only had one great game in that year.

I do not agree. Given the moment with which Wii has dominated the holiday season, it will continue for some more time well into 2009. As the base of Wii users have increased a number of titles will be launched by game SW companies.

I’m sorry but I pity those that still think ps3 or 360 have a chance to overtake wii sales, face the facts and face that Wii is the new ps/ps2 of this generation and theres nothing stopping It not a revamped 360 with NXE or PS3 with Home or any of It’s first or third party exclusive’s.
people since it launched have said the same thing over and over every new year they say this 20XX ps3 or 360 will overtake sales and fanboys of wii will move to 360 or ps3 well the truth is wii is selling 2-3 times more of volume then 360 and 360 about 2x more then ps3 It ain’t gonna happen face it.
I’m a owner of all 3 but im sure all of them will do good this new year of 2009 especially sony it wont be on it’s knees anymore with cost’s of the ps3 going down and a price cut coming.

I’m afraid anyone who thinks the PS3 WON’T pass the Wii in lifetime sales has mental difficulties.

What do you expect to happen when the PS3 reaches a price point similar to that of the Wii, or, to put it better, when the PS3 reaches the price the PS2 sold most of it’s hardware at???

The PS3 is the only console this generation that has the software to carry it past 100 million units, the Wii won’t have the software to carry it past 70 million and the 360 probably won’t make it to where the Wii is now.

The 360 has already lost this generation, everyone knows that now, even microsoft. The 360 is now the cheapest console on the market, it can’t get any cheaper (So a 2009 price cut wouldn’t make a difference to sales one bit), yet it’s still not selling well. If the PS3 cost £129.99 how many would have been bought by now??? If your answer is anything less than 80 million you’re insane. The PS3′s software is keeping it alive even with the high price tag, once that price comes down, even Wii Fit won’t be able to stand in Sony’s way.

Do you honestly think the Wii’s software would sell the console for £299.99??? Me neither…………..
