Pink Apple iPhone 3G in the wild: Will it be at MacWorld?

There were rumors of a red Apple iPhone 3G before the handset even launched, but as yet we have not seen the red version. Now a pink version of the iPhone 3G was spotted in the wild, and was up for sale on eBay.

Engadget are convinced that this is the real deal, as the engraving on the back looks genuine. There are a number of photos, that do look convincing, but there are no images of the back of the box, so it is still hard to tell if this is in fact a real Apple iPhone 3G.

Let us not forget that MacWorld is just under a week away, so we could see this pink handset and maybe the red one making an appearance. The black, white and silver versions do look great, but Apple know that they now need to start appealing to women, and having a red or a pink iPhone 3G would be a great start.

Why wasn’t this at MacWorld? I’ve been searching for a pink iPhone forever… best I can see is a petition in the works at http://www.pinkiphone.me but who knows if Apple will take it seriously.
