Research In Motion (RIMM) & Apple (AAPL) still dominate Smartphone market
By: Peter Chubb | December 24, 2008 | Leave a CommentFor those who thought that the Smartphone market was slowing down you would be wrong, and it is still Research In Motion (RIMM) & Apple (AAPL) who still continue to dominate the Smartphone market. This is according to figures from the latest ChangeWave survey.
Apple has seen great results for this quarter, a direct result of the Apple iPhone 3G, and with rumors of a smaller version of the iPhone, which some are calling the iPhone Nano or iPod Shuffle. Hopefully we will know more at MacWorld 2009.
RIM sales have been a bit slow, but with the recent launch of two new handsets, the BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry Storm, RIM have seen a last minute surge in this quarter. RIM sales have never been that great for the consumer market, but the Storm has changed all that now.
