Blu-ray/DVD hybrid disc: can it save Blu-ray against streaming

Blu-ray player sales are now starting to increase, but sales have still been disappointing, this is according to some top movie executives. Blu-ray had won the format war against HD DVD but there is another rival in town, and that is movie streaming.

There are many that consider Christmas to be make or break time for the Blu-ray format, and there could be something on the horizon that could help Blu-ray sales. The new Blu-ray/DVD hybrid disc hopefully brings with it fresh hopes of Blu-ray finally being the preferred format choice.

Infiniti Storage Media are to become the first company to mass produce titles on Blu-ray/DVD hybrid discs. The disc consists of a traditional 8.5GB DVD format on one side, and 25GB Blu-ray format on the other side of the disc.
