By: Peter Chubb | December 22, 2008 | Leave a CommentImages have been appearing online that shows the Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo Mothership, WhiteKnightTwo taking her maiden flight. The aircraft was doing some tests in Mojave, and we can now see what engines will be powering the craft.
The engines that are being used are four Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308A, which have the historic job of carrying the SpaceShipTwo into the air ready for its flight into space. The maiden flight lasted around one hour, which as we mentioned above, took place at Mojave air and spaceport.
Here is a brief build up to the maiden flight of Virgin Galactic’s WhiteKnightTwo. December 12, a low-speed trip down a runway, December 16, spoilers deployed, starboard main gear lock caused some smoke, December 20, Runs down the runway, then a brief lifting of the nose gear.
