Google Android Cupcake update: Video review

Last week a new branch of the Google Android operating system was made available for the Smartphone, the update which was made public is called Cupcake. The new update will add a host of new features, all of which can be viewed in the video below.

The update is expected to be merged with the main Google Android OS over the next few weeks. Cupcake has a host of new features; the biggest is the addition of video recording as well as playback, Bluetooth stereo support.

The update also has new browser features, such as copy/paste and quick search, and to please users, the much awaited -screen virtual QWERTY keyboard. One of the strangest parts of the update is “x86″ support. Why would the Google Android phone need support for Intel and AMD’s desktop PC processors?

wow thats cool i got a g1 and was wondering how to get that and also do u know about when flash will be available on the g1

  2. Chris says:

It’s not available to your G1 yet (No, I don’t know when.) If you had an unlocked dev version of the G1 you could install it yourself.

Also, as a general question to the audience, what is up with this weird conspiracy where people ask about Flash for the G1 in so many weird places?

  3. Chris Mortimer says:

x86 for google android phone is to allow adobe flash player to work with Linux. If you try to view flash sites on your phone you will be directed to the adobe site and one of the options is x86 for Linux

Its bcuz we hav a lot of flash-related needs and its really annoying not to have flash as even most of the basic websites have flash on them and its super lame not to be able to view them particularly when T-Mo charges quite a bit for unlimited internet, which I take full use of and lose out on the experience due to lack of flash. Therefore as G1 users, we are obligated to ask this question on anything G1 related so someone out there who has the power to make it happen will.

I know about the redirect to Adobe w/ “Linux, x86″ being listed as the OS, and you’re saying that the cupcake update is going to allow flash to be installed on the phone?

T-Mobile is rolling out cupcake starting during the week of May 11th in phases and it will be reaching all T-Mobile customers by the end of May. Understand that T-Mobile has nothing to do with the flash capabilities of the G1, it is a google/htc product.
