Geforce GTX 295: Nvidia dual GPU card review
By: Peter Chubb | December 22, 2008 | Leave a CommentNot many people have had the chance to get their hands on the Geforce GTX 295, Nvidia’s new dual GPU card, but PC Games Hardware were one of the lucky ones. The guys have spent some time with the new graphics card, and have decided to treat us to a review.
The new card has been based on 55 nm GT200b chips, and is now the first Nvidia gaming GPU to exceed the limit of TFLOPS. This has been achieved by the use of two GPUs each; both have access to 240 Shader ALUs, 80 texture units and 28 ROPS with a 448 Bit memory interface.
Nvidia are hoping that the Geforce GTX 295 will be able to reclaim the title of the fastest single graphics card; AMD had held that title with their HD 4800 series. There is no official launch date as yet, but it is expected to be sometime in mid-January 2009.
