
Toshiba launches first 512GB Notebook SSD at a price
By: Peter Chubb | December 18, 2008 | Leave a CommentElectronics giant Toshiba have launched the first 2.5-inch solid-state drive, this SSD drive has a storage capacity of 512GB. The new drive will be used for notebooks, and offers people on the move a better storage solution.
Toshiba plan to showcase their new SSD device at CES 2009 in Las Vegas in January. Te new storage device is just one of a number of SSDs that Toshiba have built which uses their latest 43-nanometer manufacturing process.
Toshiba are not only offering the SSD with a 512GB storage capacity, they also offer 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. All will be offered with a choice of both 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch enclosures. Expect to see these new drives enter production in the second quarter of 2009.
