Xbox 360 price helps it lead PS3 in Europe by 1m

The Xbox 360 currently has a lead over the Sony PS3 by one million of lifetime sales across Europe, which includes France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. These figures have been taken from GfK Chart-Track data seen by Eurogamer, and have been following the sale of hardware over October and November.
The figures show that the Sony PlayStation 3 is now catching up to the Xbox 360, and considering the 360 had a year head start, the PS3 is not doing a bad job. However since Microsoft issued a price cut for their games console, Xbox 360 sales figures have taken a jump and should be able to keep hold of their lead for some time.
Sony Europe has said that the PS3 install base is 300,000 larger than the Xbox 360 in PAL territories; this includes countries that are outside of Europe and Australia. Microsoft said that November was their biggest ever month for sales for the Xbox 360, as sales increased by 124 percent over the same period last year. This has to be a direct result of the constant price cuts that Microsoft is offering.
