Microsoft IE Virus and 3 ways to improve Windows security

As we know Microsoft will be releasing a patch for Internet Explorer some time later today, they had to take this action rather than wait for their regular security update next month because of a serious flaw in the web browser.
The flaw affects every version of IE, which is why a number of users have opted to use a different browser, such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Hopefully all should be back to normal today, but Microsoft should have never got themselves in to this situation in the first place.
Cnet have been looking at a number of ways where Windows security can be improved, following this Microsoft IE virus, or hijack as people are calling it. You should set Windows to automatically download but not update, as this has been known to cause problems. You should then wait a couple of days until you apply the updates, just to make sure there have been no reports related to the update.
The second step is to set your windows update to download manually if your PC has been turned off for some time. The third make sure that you use a Firewall, and not Windows Firewall, although it has improved over the years, it still does not offer you the security that a dedicated suite does.
