iPhone 3G for sale at Walmart: $99 price not true
By: Peter Chubb | December 17, 2008 | Leave a CommentRemember that rumor that the Apple iPhone 3G would sell for $99 at Walmart, well it seems that that rumor was not true. Engadget have managed to get hold of a letter, which has come from a reliable source within Wal-Mart.
The iPhone 3G will be on sale at Wal-mart on December 28, the 8GB version will cost $197 and the 16GB version will cost $297. These prices are based on a two-year AT&T contract, Walmart are all set to launch an internal program today.
A number of stores have been asked to join in with the pilot program, where the stores will have just 5 handsets, which they must sell during the pilot period. No employee is allowed to talk about the pilot program, so the person who scanned a copy of the letter had better watch their back.
