Decline in large TFT-LCD panel sales
By: Peter Chubb | December 17, 2008 | Leave a CommentSales of large TFT-LCD panels are now in decline; just 25.83 million units were shipped in November, which is down 33.88 million units in October or 23.7 percent. The overall figure is down by 26.4 percent for the year so far.
There are a number of reasons for this; the first is the downturn in the global economy, while the other is that netbooks are now more popular than notebooks and desktop PCs. However the overall sales of all PC related items have been dropping sharply over recent months.
Shipments of 12.1 inch and larger notebook sales have dropped by 28.4 percent, to just 7.86 million units in November, that is down from 10.98 million units in October. Shipments of LCD TV panels have also dropped; sales were down 19.3 percent, to just 7.51 million units.
