Apple Inc have seen sales of their Apple Mac stay flat for the month of November, while rival Microsoft Corp’s has seen sales of Windows PCs increase by 7 percent. Sales of desktop computers were down by 20 percent, those running on Windows were down by 15 percent, Macs were down by a huge 38 percent.
Apple notebook sales were up by 22 percent for the month of November, with notebooks running on Windows was up by 15 percent. These figures prove that desktop sales are now slowing down, and notebook sales are starting to increase their lead.
IDC, who track the sales of technology products had predicted earlier this month that PC global sales will fall 5.3 percent next year, to just $267 billion. Notebooks are getting more powerful and now come with increased battery life, so why would someone choose a desktop as they are far more limited.
