An article over at ps4talk.com has started a debate on whether Sony will decide to use Super Hi-Vision technology on their next console.
Super Hi-Vision was first introduced in 2003 and can perform at resolutions such as 7680 x 4320 pixels which is the same as 16 1080p screens placed together. It sounds pretty wild but imagine the PS4 be able to offer technology like that, it is quite exciting to think about all the possibilities Sony can use.
The BBC think that SHV will be reaching consumers homes in 2015, but that is seven years away from now, and we all know how fast technology is progressing at the moment.
What are your thoughts on this? Remember that experiment that Sony used for Gran Turismo using various monitors placed together? It shows that they are definitely thinking of new ideas.

That would be awesome. But it would make the PS4 very expensive. I think that Sony should have learned their leason and got for standard HDMI w/cable in the PS4.
Did you hear me Sony?
Yep, it is called Quad Full High Definition…

another stupid idea for Sony, have they not learned from the PS3?? even in 2015 the vast majority of people will still be using standard-def tvs as they have no reason to switch. even so there will be a sizable amount of hd ready screens around. it’s gamers and audiophiles that drive consumer tech forward, joe public has very little interest in the resolution of the screen they are watching chat shows or soap operas on..
just stick to 1080p, keep the cost down, as they used to say ’stack ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap’ worked for the Wii didn’t it.
I’m positive the next gen machines will use 1080p as standard in games and some may support Quad HD for other media.
That’s not to say their isn’t the option of running games in Quad HD however the best looking games will not have the compute power behind them to run smoothly at this resolution. ie Kill Zone 4
Just to clear up QuadHD isn’t the same as Super Hi Vision.
