Sony PS3′s HOME: Are you ready for the new virtual world?
By: Peter Chubb | December 11, 2008 | Leave a CommentIt is December 11, 2008, which means that Sony’s long awaited 3-D social networking service, Home will officially launch. For those of you who have not yet heard of Home for the Sony PS3, it is very similar to Linden Lab’s Second Life.
Home allows you to create a virtual character where you can then enter cyberspace and meat other people around the world. You can interact with them in the way of texting, or even talking to them while in the Home environment.
When you create your own character you then get to have your own apartment in cyberspace, you can go out and meet people, or even have a game of bowling or pool. Home is a free service, but Sony will charge companies to advertise in cyberspace. The first companies to sign up are Diesel, Eurogamer, Hexus TV, Ligne Roset Paramount Pictures and Red Bull.
We have had so long to prepare ourselves for Home, but are we all now ready for this new virtual world?
