Latest figures over in Japan have indicated that Blu-ray players have overtaken DVD players for the first time. Data was collected by GfK Retail and Technology and said these figures were during the first week of November.
Fifty percent of the market share was occupied by Blu-ray players which is a significant increase from 10 per cent which was recorded in October 2007.
GfK also conceded that Blu-ray players were replacing DVD players 1.5 times faster than the DVD players replaced VHS machines. What do you make of this? Many people doubted whether or not the Blu-ray format would become a success or not, but this figure suggest that this might be starting to change with more and more consumers switching to high definition.
