More than 800,000 Nintendo Wii’s were sold in the US during the Thanksgiving period according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
When speaking to Reuters, he said that his figure is more than twice what they managed to sell last year as they shifted 350,000. Something is obviously going right for Nintendo at the moment then if they are able to double that figure in just a year.
He also revealed the Nintendo DS was doing well as sales were up 20 percent during Thanksgiving week than compared to a year earlier.
Iwata explained, “When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list.’’
