Here we have the VTech VT5883 5.8GHz 4 Handset Cordless Phone with Digital Answering Machine System, which only requires one phone jack to use all four. The main phone has the answering machine with 15 minutes of recording time.
The phone lets you know who is calling with its caller ID, allowing you to make the choice to answer the call, or let the answering machine pick it up. The extra large display illuminates well, allowing you to see the display in low light conditions.

I have a vtech 5.8 which I have been very happy with until recently, now I can’t hear the messages, A lot of static.
Can you help?
I have the same problem. The answering machine worked great and for months and now suddenly messages are all static and impossible to understand. If you are in the house and pick up a handset when a message is being recorded, it’s clear on the handset.
