New Xbox 360 Game Needs 3 DVDs: PS3’s Blu-ray would do in one

Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be released soon on the Xbox 360 in North America, and Sony PS3 users will be laughing, as the game will be on 3 DVD discs. The Sony PlayStation 3 would do it on just one Blu-ray disc

Do not get me wrong, the Xbox 360 has an amazing online experience, but their DVD technology is a big problem. It’s like having a CD drive instead of DVD on PC’s by using DVD rather than Blu-ray, so why does Microsoft still use old technology.

There is a worry that as games get bigger and offer more detail, Xbox 360 games will need even more than the 3 discs that Star Ocean: The Last Hope has. We would just like to know if Xbox 360 users are happy with the old DVD format, or would that much rather games on the Blu-ray format. Please do not think that we am running the Xbox 360 down, it is still a fantastic games console, and the sales figures speak for themselves.

I don’t want to go off topic too much, but my 360 I’ve had from launch and it’s been on it’s side for 18 months (until recently, when the aquisition of another console forced it verticle) and never had an issue with scratched discs. I do however find that games and DVDs lent to friends that are not as categol as me do get scratched. Human error me thinks!

I’d like to say ‘categol’ was intentional but alas I did mean ‘careful’

Dude do u actually think ps3s are good. They suck. Look at how much more expensive they are. Oh and speaking of exclusives who is getting The extra add on for GTA IV definitely not ps3 users. Xbox rules.

Y’know I’ve been repairing 360’s for quite a while now, and still class them as a better console than the PS3 - if only for the backing from major game companies.

Don’t get me wrong, every pc in my house is Linux, I’m not an MS fan, and never even owned a standard Xbox - PS, PS2’s were my consoles until the 360 changed my mind.

RROD? You know I’d say that 90% of the time the OWNER causes them, not the 360, though a case mod in order to stop people blocking the bloody vents would be handy - maybe a built in angle grinder that shreds anything that gets too close to the grill… Keep your vents clear and follow the basic instructions (i.e if your box scratches a disk report it to MS who’ll replace it or its drive for free and even send you a new disk!)

For now the 360 still stands high above the PS3 in my opinion, once the games industry (I don’t just mean developers) fall into place behind it as they did the 360 then I’m sure MS will have some work to do - but not just yet.

(Incidently I own both and a Wii - in fact there are 4 - 360s in my place - one for each male in the house lol)
