New Xbox 360 Game Needs 3 DVDs: PS3’s Blu-ray would do in one

Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be released soon on the Xbox 360 in North America, and Sony PS3 users will be laughing, as the game will be on 3 DVD discs. The Sony PlayStation 3 would do it on just one Blu-ray disc

Do not get me wrong, the Xbox 360 has an amazing online experience, but their DVD technology is a big problem. It’s like having a CD drive instead of DVD on PC’s by using DVD rather than Blu-ray, so why does Microsoft still use old technology.

There is a worry that as games get bigger and offer more detail, Xbox 360 games will need even more than the 3 discs that Star Ocean: The Last Hope has. We would just like to know if Xbox 360 users are happy with the old DVD format, or would that much rather games on the Blu-ray format. Please do not think that we am running the Xbox 360 down, it is still a fantastic games console, and the sales figures speak for themselves.

Oh cmon… switching disks is so not a problem, I didn’t care when playing FFVII on Playstation. People act like it’s a chronic issue to change a disc. Switching discs kind of gives me that nostalgic feeling, and can be used to guage how far through the game you’re getting through.

Plus Blu-Ray disc readers in the PS3 are still slow and not refined yet. Speed up disc reading and we have a conversation.

and… I still feel blu-ray is ahead of it’s time, since I happen to know a lot of XBox360 games still using a Standard definition television, who still feel DVD is amazing lol.

meh.. this commentary sounds like a Sony fanboy rant. Taking 5 seconds to change disks after hours of gameplay isn’t that big of a deal. No one ever complained when they had to do it with Final Fantasy and other rpgs. As long as the games are good, it won’t matter. I have to agree with an earlier post. My problem is gaming companies that feel required to cut content because they have to fit everything on one disk. That’s how really great games become crap and gamers get cheated that way.

  4. topdog says:

Why would you want more than 1 disk it dont make no difference but if i had the option i would prefer a single disk esspecialy since disks aint indistructable but like most of you said who realy gives a f*c* about trivial things like how many disks

  5. Pep says:

Final Fantasy VII and Shenmue II are some of the best games I’ve ever played and they both used 4 CDs/GDs.

  6. kb says:

the reason why companies care about fitting games on less than 3 discs is that MS charges a fee for extra discs

Yup id love to have a bluray in the xbox! the it absence is probably why its the more popular out of the 360 and ps3(it was released first and is a tried and tested format leading the massive selection of games and also why the 360 is like half the price) unfortunately i cant see an external or internal bluray for the 360 being made so i expect more loading to the HDD and release day DLC! as for the ps3 fan boys please put something half intelligent and useful down (Arsi it not because it American im British don’t like a lot of Americans (some of ya are well cool) i got the 360 on the fact that is the best value, with the most games and most of my friend have one and have met many more online if you want the most powerful games console buy a ****** good PC) the next gen xbox will be blue ray probably very many layered!
