Wal-Mart retailer sued over death on Black Friday

Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) is being sued by the family of the man who was killed in one of their stores on Black Friday. The best shopping day of the year is meant to be a great time for consumer’s as they try to pick up a bargain, but not for Jdimytai Damour.
The family of Damour has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc, and is seeking unspecified damages. Shoppers at New York’s Long Island Wal-Mart store broke down the doors, in the frenzy; Jdimytai Damour was knocked to the floor and trampled to death.
34-year old Damour was an independent contractor who was assigned to cover security. In the lawsuit it says that his death was caused by “the carelessness, reckless negligence, wanton disregard for public safety and gross negligence.” The lawsuit has also named the shopping mall, as well as the security company that is used by Wal-Mart.
