IGN Compares: Call of Duty World at War on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

IGN have posted a video over at their website comparing Call of Duty: World at War on all the different platforms.

The game is out on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and the Nintendo Wii and the video gives you a idea on which version is the best to buy and gives you their reasons why.

In terms of graphics, the PC version comes out on top, due to its nice shadowing, textures and good character models. The Xbox 360 just edged above the PS3 as they said the PS3 version suffered from jagged visuals when playing in 1080p.

As for controls, the PC came out on top as most gamers will agree that the most comfortable experience when playing a shooter is that using a mouse and keyboard.

    I can see why and how the PC got the top.

    The 1080p issues with the PS3 is the developers problems. Also the network issues are the developers. They should have beta tested the PS3 to work out the bugs.

    Some say that the why it’s the PS3 fault is the difference in coding and structure. I say, learn to program for the specific consoles.

    i agree. developers should beta test on all platforms. it really shows inexperience and disregard to consumers when they favor a console over others. if a game is coming across on all 3 platforms than developers should focus on getting the best game for that console especially if the console is capable of it. if they are making money from sales because of that console than it should be treated right. at the end of the day, we are gamers and we are the reason why they are here.

    I would choose the wii’s controls over the keyboard and mouse any day as for traditional games controllers vs the keyboard and mouse it annoys me how you say most gamers prefer the mouse over the controller, how do you know this? From every forum or conversation ive seen/heard its very much divided.

      I believe he means any real gamer with skill. Console controllers are cumbersome and aren’t fluent enough to be good with them. That’s why auto aiming was invented, you’ll find auto aiming helps console players with controllers, and actually impairs keyboard and mouse users. Look at any Pro gamer (I mean someone at the top) I can bet you now they use a keyboard and mouse. If you look at a fast paste game like Quake Arena for instance. If you use a keyboard and mouse your reactions are faster and you can move more fluently. I’ve never seen a game on a console that is fast paste as most people wouldn’t be able to cope with it.

    I now thing that after all this time the PS3 should be atleast on level terms with the Xbox. But yet again anothert multi platform game that is not as good on PS3 than 360. This game was developed by a PS3 team and a 360 team, so it should have been the same. I now think that the PS3 is not upto the task and there must be a design problem with it even the most die hard Sony fans can not still be making excuses for it. The bottom line is its missing something that the 360 has, but I don’t know what.

    @Chris

    Nothing is missing. The reason why multiplatform games may look better on the 360 over the PS3 in the DIFFERENCE in coding.

    It has been stated several times that the xbox is easier to program for. IMO the xbox is just like a pc. So programming for it is easier. basically if you can make a game for a pc you can make a game for the 360.

    The PS3 is a different story though. because the architecture is different. meaning that it is challange to program for it. Some developers don’t have the time or money to invest on single IP to make sure that both are identicle.
