Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Acer and Asustek cut order volumes by 50%
Filed under: Computers

We mentioned in a recent article that PC sales are slowing down; as a result some of the biggest PC manufactures, such as Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Acer and Asustek are cutting their order volumes by 50% for the first quarter of 2009, compared to the same period last year.
HP is cutting their orders by 50%, Acer and Asustek by 40 to 50% and Dell by 50 to 60%. This is according to sources close to component makers. It was first thought that HP and Dell were just reducing the costs.
It was thought that both computer giants were combining orders together and then outsourcing to just a few makers. PC and notebook orders will see a large drop in the first part of 2009; however netbook sales will see a surge in sales.
