Sony Blu-ray disc sales are booming

After all the Black Friday deals were finished and shoppers could return to a normal life, it appears the most in demand product was Blu-Ray disc players.

Many retailers were selling Blu-ray players for under $200 and as a result of this, retailers said that stock quickly sold out once the discounts were live.

Shoppers were reluctant to purchase the high definition players to start with due to their very high price tag, often around $399. But this holiday weekend saw retailers such as Wal-Mart offer players for under $200, for example their $128 Magnavox Blu-Ray player which the retailer said it sold out of by 9:30am.

Could we be seeing a turnaround in sales of Sony’s HD disc-format? There are bound to be even more chances to pick up a player at a discounted price this Christmas, so now might be the time to pick up one up if you don’t own one.

Let us know your opinions on the Blu-Ray format.

The old HD DVD owners can’t write as many articles about blu ray’s coming doom now that everyone and their mother is buying blu ray’s.
