GTA 4 on PC: Gamers report fatal error already

I’m having problems with securRom. I bought the f@#$n game and now Windows are telling me that it’s not a original copy. I should have downloaded a pireted one instead.

it doesnt mather if you play on high or on low settings
the game doesnt go higher than 20 fps
even with an highend machine
there are many performance problems
right now the game is just unplayable with that cind of horrible fps
hoping for a fix very soon

My game doenst work to, when I want to log in in social club to play GTA IV it gives me a fatal error and sais that I have to check my network connection. But I am connected to internet:S

I’m having lots of problems. Besides the error when you have to log in to socialclub, The game runs very bad on my PC, even though it’s perfectly powerful enought to run the game. I am also having problems with the grafics.. Sometimes the buildings, etc. just dissapear and I can’t see anything. I really hope that Rockstar fixes all the problems SOON!

Damn i downloaded service pack 3 for windows XP, I did all the stuff I read on the internet, but I can’t play because Rockstar Social Club says im not connected to internet!!! FUCKING ENNOYING! I hope they gonna fix these errors SOON, because I won’t everever buy a rockstar game at the releasedate anymore. Let all the hardcore gamers tell them their software SUCK! so they fix it and then the normal people can buy the fucking game…

I have been waiting for gta 4 on pc since last so many months and i got it today when it came out but m really disappointed by it that it doesnt work on my pc.It is showing a fatal error RESC10 which means out of video memory..but i just bought a new laptop last month…i can`t play the game at all……i tried skipping social club but still it doesnt helps….can anyone help me out?

i have errors to, it doesnt even ask for an activation code(or i just dont know what site i have to go for that)
if i try to logon, i can for once, in the rockstar games special club.
then i pres “play” and then i get this error: internal error: couldn’t init richedit 2.0
(i got vista home premium)

The game is full of the aforementioned error. You CAN get around it by not logging into the social club, HOWEVER, don’t expect to save your progress. Yes, you need to log into a Windows LIVE account to save; how stupid is that? Doesn’t mention THAT on the box… Trying to log into LIVE generally crashes the game in a different, but same end result.

Wait…wait a while on this one…or overlook it entirely, if solely based on the broken anti-piracy crap…and they wonder why people still steal these games, when people like me who rush to buy are screwed outright.

Ok, so the only type of games I buy are Rockstar and the need for speed series as well as some ubisoft ones such as far cry. Anyways this is SH*T.
I bypass the error by not using the club thingy but the game runs terribly bad. Graphics are completely messed up. My graphic card is a NVIDIA Geforce 7950 GT and I have at least 6 gb ram. Nothing should stop this game from running. I already shut off my second screen and it didn’t change a thing.

These problems aren’t fixable through the internet… are they going to pull back and bring out a better version or something?

It really pains me to see that people like myself who think that supporting the gaming industry by going out and purchasing their highly over priced game, are screwed, and cant even play the game. There has been no official statements from Rockstar as of yet, explaining this situation, nor has there been any indication of them working on a solution.

This may be the last time I ever consider buying a Rockstar game. If Rockstar truly want to make more money they should worry less about the pirates and more about keeping the people that payed for the game at least able to play the fking game. So that they buy more games.

Im sure that this incident has turned many of us honest patrons of the game industry to piracy. This sort of treatment from such a large gaming company really is not very appreciative of their customers.

I have been waiting for ages too and as an IT technician I think this stinks.

I’m using a high end xps laptop with more than enough hardware to piss on this game but it doesn’t work at all.

On vista I only had the socil club icon in start menu and desktop but on xp I got other icons for the game.

Benchmark sucks as it is all choppy ghosted and totally slow and off colour with everything looking blue and semi transparant even at lowest possible settings. On vista the benchmark crashes all together.

The biggest problem is that although the game starts on xp after the benchmark has finished when you just go to START from the main screen it just keeps cycling the loading screen pictures and NEVER loads.

It doesn’t matter what OS you use, the damn game stinks all round so I hope they fix all these problems soon.

my game works to the point where you start your first mission you can move around but the textures are missing (all i see is water and the car) which is bullshit, this is a fucking anoying bug.

I have been having the same problem, go to play the game and “…GTA 4 Fatal Error: MMA10…”, so I followed Rockstars advice, not sign-in to that crappy Social Club (so much for the social part!), and then I get “…GTA 4 Fatal Error: RESC10 …”.
Oh and why the hell would a developer make a game that you can only save when online, ummm, come on guys, you have experience in the gaming field….let’s get this sorted, maybe a fixed server and a patch sometime SOON!

@Ethan Forster: I feel the same. I am willing to pay for Games as I understood that intellectual property should not be stolen (as I did before), just to get this kind of crap.
Well, guess what… I will not buy any Rockstar game anymore, but download them. And yes Rockstar, your protections don’t help: it’s just like Antibiotika. The more you add protection, the more hackers are happy to crack them! You are fueling them instead of being smart as Valve!!

At least rockstar recognized the problem and claims to be working on a future game patch. (future sound bad thow)

without to read each single post here, for that LIVE logon problem,
make sure you iexpore.exe (yes your internetexplorer) is NOT in “work offline” mode + is NOT blocked by your firewall!

I use firefox and i had blocked iexplore.exe + set to offline mode and it did not work.
coulnt simple login. solved by reallowing iexplore going online
(you still dont need to use iexplore.exe! stay with your safer alternatives!)

Same problem with all……i was a big fan of rockstar before i bought dis fucking game but i aint buying any of their games in future at all……it is a fucked up game….spend monry but what i got is a piece of shit……really disappointed by it…

I’ve emailed the rockstar support yesterday at around 2130 and they’ve replyed saying that they’ll contact me with the answer to my problem which was: the serial code and the other code are not working, can’t associate the game, can’t get the game to run online or offline, basically can’t do jack shit w/it other than…asking myself over and over again WHY DID I BUY THIS FUCKING GAME???!!! AAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven’t heard anything from rockstar yet, and I really reaaaallllyyyyyy hope to hear from them w/in the next 40 min which is when the 24 hr period runs out. Anyway gotta get back to studying, got finals tomorrow.
Hopefully they’ll fix the game or recall it alltogether. Update your GRAFIC-CARD drivers , even if you dont need to , that worked for me , and i got the error , “RESC10″ ..

Now i can play the game . I play it on 1280×1024 on a 19″ screen ( not wide one ) , and my pc is not slow at all , just build it up late 2008 with all the new stuff , and the game freezes time to time , waste of time .

I hope RS comes out with a Update Patch to fix all those problems , the game deserve it , but also to make US , the buyers , come back for the next GTA ….

So people , update your grafic-card drivers , re-boot the pc and give it a go , it worked for me .

I bought this game yesterday. Updated to servicepack 3, installed .net framework 3.5 and updated ATI drivers to latest version. Then installed this game, registered myself with social club, updated windows games Live with newest version and activated game online successfully.

I meet the specs to run this game, everything i launch it though i just get a:

“Grand Theft Auto IV has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

Tell me Rockstar, why is it harder to run a game that you originally buy nowadays then to download a cracked version? Really screw this! I am all for supporting companies that make great games, but really feel screwed now. I can not even play a game that i paid for. I am returning this to the shop and getting my money back. Fuck you rockstar, i will never buy another game from you!

I gave up and returned it back to the shop. Now they don’t normally let you do that due to copyright and what not, but and a big BUT it is, I instead baught from the shop a PS3, along with extra cintroller and yea you guessed it GTA IV. I am not a console fan but am a GTA IV fan so its converted me. Now I just have to get used to playing FPS on consoles.

I installed it yesterday (12/30/08) and the only problem that I have is needing an updated graphics card.

Hey when i first got the game i ran it on a xp we had to upgrade it a whole bunch and then it worked fine ne fatel error but then i built my own computer so i could play it on high graphecs well i used windows vista because of my 6 gigs of ram bad mistake now i am getting an error in the middle of my game fist of all the music jumbles up but the game is fine then it just shuts my game down and said fatal error
