Apple removes Mac antivirus utilities suggestion
Filed under: Computers, Software

Apple has removed an item from their support page, which asked Mac customers to use a number of antivirus utilities, Apple now say that the Mac is safe to use “out of the box.” This is because the Apple Mac has technology built-in that provides it with the protection that it needs against malicious software and security threats.
The old message that was on Apple’s support page urged people to use multiple antivirus programs, which would have made it a lot tougher for a user to become infected by a virus on their Mac. Although security experts were happy that Apple urged their customers to install an antivirus program, running multiple programs could cause a number of problems.
An Apple expert had said that it was not Apple’s intention to tell Mac users that they actually needed any antivirus software, the support note was poorly worded, which is why the note has now been removed.
