Playstation 3 Update 2.53: Wish list for next firmware

The Sony PlayStation 3 Update 2.53 has now launched and although it is not the greatest firmware update, there a few good features that should keep users happy. The most notable of those features is full screen support added to Adobe Flash Player 9.
Other new features include Adobe Flash Player content support for the Internet browser, Sequential Playback, Divx VOD Registration Code, Power Save Settings, Nine Volume Output Levels, Trophies can now be synced with the server, and also the playback quality of certain PS3 format software has been improved.
Although these are not the best features that could have been updated in firmware 2.53, it does show that Sony are moving ever closer to making the PS3 the only piece of entertainment equipment that you need.

Several sincere requests:
1.REMOVE GREEN VIDEO COPY PROTECTION - OK, I know that I’m way behind the times in not having an HDTV, but please remove the green video copy protection when playing DVDs through a SCART cable. It angers me that Sony has intentionally disabled a function that I feel like I’ve paid for.
2. ENABLE SYSTEM SOFTWARE TO SUPPORT BOTH NTSC AND PAL - Along the same lines, please update the system software of NTSC machines so that they can play all-region encoded disks. I brought my U.S. PS3 overseas thinking that I could still play all-region encoded disks, but NOOOO, I get a message saying that PAL DVDs aren’t supported. I know that the PS3 hardware is capable of reading PAL DVDs, so please enable this function in the system software. Between the green screen issue and PAL issue, my PS3 has been rendered ENTIRELY USELESS for watching DVDs.
3. Please allow better/easier management of save game files. If I want to copy or delete save game files, I have to scroll through and INDIVIDUALLY copy or delete over a hundred save game files. That’s just ridiculous.
4. Please update the system software to allow me to play music, browse the internet, and other things without having to fully exit whatever game I’m playing.
1. I want to be able to rename my files, should be simple.
2. No to beat a dead horse but (whack) in game music, maybe a prepared playlist?
3. Internet radio on PS3, if psp has it why cant ps3?
4. Better web page functionality, anyone ever try to check yahoo mail with your ps3 ?it sucks.
5. Why not a reverse remote play with the psp? I would like to play hot shots golf open tee 2 on my tv with out using wires.

and another thing,sometimes when i try to read a message whilst in game and then push back button to exit the message it just bloody freezes and wont go away unless you reboot!!
i ran the internet connection test and i obtain i.p address and internet connection ok then when it gets to playstaion network it says “a system software update is required” but it keeps comin up with same error.a LOT of people have reported this problem.did they even test this “update” before they released it??as you might tell i am quite angry lol.i have little patience when it comes to technology not working.

Basically everything you guys said. I want facebook to work properly, be able to share music or video on buddy list, message tone option, ps3 store to be able to rent or download movies music ect customise chat room ( it’s pretty damn bright at night ) be able to upload movies or music to youtube instead of just pics, custom avatars or update them because the choice we have is so outdated and boring I mean come on Sony. quicker loading from game to XMB and please please fix Mortal Kombat 2 fix it’s menu because it is disgraceful and the overseas lagg issue. extend friends list, and more space to add longer comments, Choose where abouts and how big the message box appears on the screen ( I’ve had people purposly send constant messages to block my radar LoL ) When finding a friend to add have a predictable menu so when you start typing an id in it would automatically bring up existing id’s until you find the right one.

and most important please can they bring out a firmware that will let me play ps2 games on my ps3 40gig
