Playstation 3 Update 2.53: Wish list for next firmware

The Sony PlayStation 3 Update 2.53 has now launched and although it is not the greatest firmware update, there a few good features that should keep users happy. The most notable of those features is full screen support added to Adobe Flash Player 9.
Other new features include Adobe Flash Player content support for the Internet browser, Sequential Playback, Divx VOD Registration Code, Power Save Settings, Nine Volume Output Levels, Trophies can now be synced with the server, and also the playback quality of certain PS3 format software has been improved.
Although these are not the best features that could have been updated in firmware 2.53, it does show that Sony are moving ever closer to making the PS3 the only piece of entertainment equipment that you need.

is any1 else experiencing that the update (2.53) is taking hell long?
im getting 1% every 5/6 mins and i always get errors like 80710723 etc…
is it just me or are other people getting problems?

I’d like external divx subtitles support
I cant download this update, it takes a while then just comes up with connection to server cannot be established, any help on this? Thanks

i’m having exactly the same problem, except it promps me to download it and then it gives me the agreement to download version 1.2! wtf? then the same error comes up! tried it for 2 days now with no luck
please upgrade to where we are able to play the game and listen to music ……… please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, i’d like to see ps3 implement into the future firmware release a Internet radio player, streaming Netflix player, and maybe an multiclient Instant messanger. these are the only limitations keeping me to using my computer connected to my tv.
i would appreciate a .pdf viewer (the last incapability of the browser).
and yes, more sorting tools and abilities would be nice.
read network drives would be nice for those unfortunate users whose
NAS does not have an integrated media server (not me, i was smart enuff to
read up on that before buyin my stuff)
In response to Hans’ qustion about better wifi/Lan connectivity to be able to play movies/music etc from network drives, just simply setup your pc as a media server, and your ps3 should then be able to pick it up, mine works a treat.
