Playstation 3 Update 2.53: Wish list for next firmware

The Sony PlayStation 3 Update 2.53 has now launched and although it is not the greatest firmware update, there a few good features that should keep users happy. The most notable of those features is full screen support added to Adobe Flash Player 9.

Other new features include Adobe Flash Player content support for the Internet browser, Sequential Playback, Divx VOD Registration Code, Power Save Settings, Nine Volume Output Levels, Trophies can now be synced with the server, and also the playback quality of certain PS3 format software has been improved.

Although these are not the best features that could have been updated in firmware 2.53, it does show that Sony are moving ever closer to making the PS3 the only piece of entertainment equipment that you need.

There are many features that have been left out, let us know what your wish list is for the next Sony PlayStation 3 firmware update.

This download is taking forever. I have 2MBpS connection. I really want to be able to listen to music while playing a game too!

No matter what Sony does, nothing is going to right the sinking ship that is the PS3.

I never do this it it would be sweet if you could listen to your own music duri g games access Internet while in a game and be able to get the trophies you earned w/o having to re-beat the game like example gta4 and burnout paradise I’m working on beating them again for my trophies sorry if it likes sloppy but I did this w/ a ipodtouch

In-game music is already available, it’s just that the developers have to implement the feature into full use. I’m not sure of what games actually allow you to listen to music while playing a game.

I’m not sure if this has been released previously by a software update, but I would like to be able to still charge my controller if I have to turn off my PS3 for some reason. It would be like a “hibernation” so to speak and then would completely shut-off when the controller was fully charged. That’s something I’d like :)

definetly music with game. it works on the warhawk demo for some reason. and Gary.. YOU’RE a sinking ship. i love ps3, instead of picking out its very seldom occuring disfunction(s).. maybe you should open your eyes to see all its amazing powers. don’t complain, just because you’re sinking. go ps3.

    I would appreciate:
NTFS support for external hd, instead of fat32 so that larger disks (partitions) can be used.
    MKV containers to be playable.
A good copy possibility from external disk to the ps3 disk with sub-directories kept as they are. (For music and pictures)
Better LAN/WIFI properties so that networkdisks can be accessed for playing music, pictures and video.

The fact to be able to play ps2 game on it! I’m sick of swapping systems!

    @JDUM

You can change your status to OFFLINE or something like that. If you press triangle on your PSN Name under friendlist you will the option for status. You can change it there.

In game music is available, the developers have to make use of the function.

HOME is coming this year just be patient.
