Pioneer to launch 16 layer 400 GB Blu-ray disc

Pioneer have been showing of their latest in disc technology, the new optical disc has is super multi-layer read-only and features 16 layers, with 25GB of storage on each layer. This means that the total capacity is 400GB.
This new disc technology is based on Blu-ray disc, and is considered to be a breakthrough in the material of reflective layers. The specs of the pick-up-head is the same as that on a standard Blu-ray disc, which means that the discs can be read in any Pioneer Blu-rar player.
The Pioneer 16-layer 400GB optical disc was on show at the IT Month fair in Taipei, and it certainly got people talking. There are no details as to when the new 16 layer 400 GB Blu-ray disc will be launched, but once it does Pioneer’s rival will be looking to better them.
