Philips SPC230NC/27 1.3mp Plug and Play USB Webcam with Microphone

Webcams have come a long way in a short amount of time, while the technology gets better, the price has not increased that much. The Philips SPC230NC/27 1.3mp Plug and Play USB Webcam with its built-in microphone is just one example of this.

The 1.3 MegaPixel camera helps to improve quality for both video and photo resolution, allowing you to take good quality pictures. The webcam gives you superior viewing thanks to its 30 frames per second video, giving you smoother video images.

Most webcams are used in a darker environment, and the low light enhancement on the Philips SPC230NC/27 Plug and Play USB Webcam helps to improve the brightness of the image in those low light conditions. This webcam is Woot’s one-day-one-sale item, and costs just $12.99.

I am a computing professional – IT consultant to aerospace and banking. I know computers. I just bought the philips SPC230NC from Fred Meyers. Took it home, installed it, no audio. Went to their website, no support option. Used google strategically and found a support page. Went through their FAQ. No help there. Called. Got an American – hopeful. But he could not help me but to say reinstall the drivers.

    Reinstalled drivers, misc errors.

Unplug, uninstall, take back to Fred Meyers.

    Time required (wasted): 2 hours

Guys-the reason the video looks shockingly bad is because you need to adjust the focus manually using the ring around the lens. I'm not sure about the audio either-will report back shortly :) .
