Nokia N97 Specs, Price and Release Date

Nokia now has a new flagship cell phone, the Nokia N97. We now have all the details, from specs, price and that all important release date. The new N97 has a 5-inch, 640 x 360 pixel screen, giving you an aspect ratio of 16:9. Did we forget to mention that the display is also touchscreen.

The screen has tactile feedback, as well as a sliding QWERTY keyboard, giving you the best of both worlds. Nokia have made a big statement about the N97, saying that it is the “world’s most advanced mobile computer.”

So let’s see if the specs can back up this claim, 32GB of onboard memory, as well as a microSD expansion, up to 48GB, that puts the iPhone to shame then. The phone also features HSDPA, WiFi and 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss glass. The Nokia will launch in H1 2009, and will cost around €550 ($693).

I have loved using my N95 the past 2 years. The N97 comes just in time for my upgrade – looking at the specs, it’s really impressive (although pricey).

My only gripe about Nokia “mobile computers” is that their processors are too slow to make them really useful and productive. Perhaps Nokia got it right with the N97…

its not a 5 inch display, its more like 3.5 .

    i want 1

  4. Gauss says:

It better hav at least a 500MHz processor with 3D hardware accelerated support and 256 of RAM or….. oh well

    • Jay says:

Its not really about the processors speed. Its how its used. HTC brags about its 500mhz+ processors but they’re useless when the operating system hold it back. So you have to look at it as a whole. not just the impressive numbers on the processors.

  5. Celz says:

Yea it better be pushin 500mhz, and 256mb ram with some 3d accel on top. Because the 3.5 in screen and 5mp camera is lovely and so is the 32gb on board but lets be real none of those are POWER. Those are all FEATURES… My sprint touch pro has what 433mhz, 288mb ram, 3.2 mp (not by carl), 16gb mem card, and a 2.8in screen.. To beat that a nicer screen, more storage, and a better camera wont cut it.. That will make it a better multimedia device.. But honestly it will need about the power of a G1 to beat a win mo device. Win Mo devices have to be more powerful to equal all of the smartphone os’ out there…. But to really lay claim to being the most powerful it will have to at least beat the G1 and Iphone and at least come close to an HTC touch flo 3d phone.. because I really doubt an Iphone, G1, Storm, Bold or anyone else could run win mo with touch flo 3D on top smoothly

sorry mate! what the F@ck are you talkaing about/ I’m sure its very interesting and for normal people like me we would be quite interested to read what you think but not in geek lingo. Sorry fella, but I think you need more natural day light!

    • Jason says:

Considering the fact that windows platforms always take more power just to run the os, saying that windows devices are better by default because they have more power would be inaccurate. They need the extra power just to run the os at the same level as the other platforms…

    i NEED this thing!!!!

  7. zrc says:

yeah… features r just 4 show off…. but the game lies in techno power and capability… can we trust the new N97 to defeat iphone or better still stand win mo??????

  8. MoFFo says:

hey this sounds and looks amazing i wanna know how much it will be in the uk im looking forward to havig the chance to get it in white!!!

    thanks for the info!!

  9. Luce says:

I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!! Was going to get the N96 at upgrade time but think i’ll just hold off till this is released!!

  10. Gauss says:

To Luce: You probably are going to be wating forever with that mind!

When this thing becomes released probably there would be another revision for the N96 with more RAM and 3D acceleration or maybe it would be just an announcement as well as maybe something else that would catch your eye and you are going to keep waiting lol!

You know…. I was ready to buy an N85, but I was disappointed by the fact that has poor RAM and no 3D accelerartion. So I decided to get an N82, which is already fully revised by a lot of people, so you know before buying that it’s a good deal, because you can read about its GPS and camera performance, etc. Also, to know that I would be able to add a 32GB microSD card to the phone the next year make me thought would be enough and decided to don’t think twice!

Anyway… if I change my mind I would sell it and get a newer revision of the N85 if it gets xenon, more RAM, 3D acceleration and a pointing device similar to that one on the Innov8, that would be what I really want! The N97 is overkill for my everyday necessities and big enough to not like it. If I ever need a touchscreen device to watch widescreen content, it better have also good gaming performance, that would include a better pointing device than that one the N97 has with 5-way keys, in other words, another device, not precisely my cellphone.
