Mozilla, Apple and Google cash in on Microsoft Internet Explorer slide
By: Peter Chubb | December 2, 2008 | Leave a CommentMicrosoft is not having a very good time of late, what with all the Xbox 360 and Windows Vista troubles, the news that their market share of Internet Explorer has now dropped to under 70% last month is yet another added worry.
With the decline in the amount of people using IE, those people are now going over to Microsoft’s rivals, Mozilla Corp., Apple Inc. and Google Inc., all three have seen increases for the month of November. Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome are now becoming a familiar site on peoples computer’s, and you know that the new kid on the block, Chrome, will take more of that market share once it gets a couple more enhancements.
Mozilla Firefox had fallen below the 20% share mark in October, but is now back up to 20.8% for November. Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome both saw gains in October, Safari is now at 7.1% and Chrome now at 0.6%. All are slowing closing the gap on Internet Explorer, but we know that Microsoft will not take this lying down.
