Apple iPhone can boot Linux, next Google Android
Filed under: Cell Phones, Phone Software

The Dev Team has been hard on the Apple iPhone, but they have now managed to port some basic parts from Linux and have modified it to work on the iPhone and the iPod Touch. The bare-bone Linux 2.6 kernel port has the command prompt line.
The team is working on the higher-level parts of Linux, these include networking and graphics. TG Daily have picked up on a very good point, they say that running Linux on the Apple iPhone is good, but just basic step. There is a more ambitious goal, and that is to run Google Android on the handset.
The Dev Team are known for doing some great things with the Apple iPhone, such as jailbreaking it so the user can install any iPhone application onto it. But it has been no secret that the Dev Team has been working on other projects, and the successful use of Linux on the iPhone is just one of these, and there are more in the works, such as running Google Android on the iPhone.
