Xbox 360’s NXE is Countering Jasper Benefits

We all know that Microsoft have introduced the new Jasper chip for the Xbox 360, this new chip should address the problem of the RROD. The new Jasper chipset has a 65nm die compared to the older 90nm die. The new chip only uses 150-watts of power, so much less drain on the system.

With good news there is always bad, and it seems that we could again see an outbreak in the Red Ring of Death, thanks to the new Xbox 360 NXE. It seems that the new Xbox Experience is highlighting the problems with the older systems, and that all of their consoles should be fixed.

The overheating problem which leads to the RROD has not been amended yet on older systems, it is only the ones that have failed have had a temporary fix, but a permanent solution is needed.

Ravi Sinha on split-screen.com said “It’s still unconfirmed whether the new chipset actually neutralizes the glitches” and they go on to say that “Microsoft couldn’t have known about NXE’s flaws weeks in advance, which is when Jasper 360s entered into the mainstream”. Should Microsoft have at least waited until NXE was launched?
