Sony PS3’s Gran Turismo 5 at Christmas: Not 2008 but 2009

We have some good news and bad news; we have learnt the release for Gran Turismo 5 for the Sony PS3, the bad news is how long we have to wait. James Armstrong, Sony’s chief executive in southern Europe made a statement in a Spanish newspaper saying that we can expect to see the game arrive in Europe for Christmas 2009.

Many Gran Turismo fans had assumed that they would get their hands on the ultimate driving games early in 2009, so having to wait a full year for the game will come as a huge shock.

GT5 will be released in Japan late in the summer of 2009, late fall in the states and early winter for Europe. Sony must know that it would be better to release a game like this much closer to Christmas than just after Christmas. Maybe the game will be ready in early 2009, but that would not be the perfect time to release it for Sony’s sales figures.
