Black Friday Results and Cyber Monday 2008 Sales

Now that we are on Cyber Monday, the Black Friday sales results have been counted and figures are in. As expected brick-and-mortar stores saw a drop in their online visitor count compared to the year before (2007), although online-only venues mostly reported an increase in traffic for Black Friday 2008.

Online-only stores such as Newegg.com and Amazon.com saw traffic increases of 10 percent on Black Friday and 11 percent on Thanksgiving Day. When we look at what sites got the most visitors, its Target, Walmart and Amazon in the top three. That’s without counting auction sites, if you do then it would be eBay top with 9.8 million visitors.

We are hearing mixed predictions for Cyber Monday 2008 sales and although the sales could beat Black Friday, some stores feel it will not be as busy as 2007. You can read the full details on Black Friday results here or join our feed for an update when Cyber Monday results are in.
